Don was born in Portland on Nov. 27, 1934, the son of Archie and Lena (Brown) Hennessy.
He will be missed by all who knew him. He was well known in the Waterville area as the man who waved to everybody. He was a 5th degree black belt martial arts master, and the wave was a block from martial arts moves. He will be especially missed by the people who enjoyed his waves daily.

Don, I looked forward to coming to work everyday to see you. From convincing you to wear shoes to supper...all the way to crying when you drew me the butterfly, I fell in love with your funny antics and the way how even when you were upset, a simple hug would make you stop and smile at me.
You touched my heart. Love you. Miss you.
Always,
Arielle

For many years I would meet "The Waving Man" as I drove down Upper Main Street and he made his way towards The Elm Plaza. He by doing such a simple act as waving at motorists brought many smiles to many faces. Such a simple act, but one that will be long remembered and missed by all those who over the years had seen him.
