Eleanora Morway Obituary

WATERVILLE -- Eleanora "Babs" Morway, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville.

She was born in Worcester, Mass., Dec. 15, 1917, the youngest child of Anthony and Anna (Lavis) Paulukonis.

She graduated from Commerce High School in 1936 and Fairchild Office School in Worcester, Mass.

She and her late husband, Bernard J. Morway, moved to Fairfield in 1944, and owned and operated Admor Cleaners in Waterville for 36 years. Mrs. Morway was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winslow, where she lived for 20 years. She was a former member of Daughters of Isabella in Fairfield, Zonta Club, Elks Ladies Auxiliary and the Community Garden Club. She volunteered at Thayer hospital.

She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and for her wonderful sense of humor. Her kindness to others left an immediate and lasting impression on everyone she met. She was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Red Sox and the Patriots, and playing cribbage with her grandchildren. Her six grandchildren affectionately called her "Nanny." She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are four daughters, Barbara Harvey and husband William of Manchester, Beverly Watts and friend Charles of Augusta, Betty Smith and husband Ronald W. of Kennebunk, and Bonnie Largess and husband James of Newry; grandchildren Eric and Margot Rollins, Polly Smith Newhall, the twins Adam and Jake, and Samantha Largess; four great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.

The family would like to thank Mount St. Joseph, Sunset Home and HealthReach Hospice for their compassionate care of their mother.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at St. Francis de Sales Church, 52 Elm St., Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville. Pallbearers will be her three sons-in-law and three grandsons.

Memorial donations in Eleanora G. Morway's name may be made to HealthReach Hospice, 10 Water St., Suite 307, Waterville, ME 04901; or to the Arthritis Foundation, Northern New England Office, 6 Chenell Dr., Suite 260, Concord, N.H. 03301.

Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.

My condloences to your family on the deahth of your mother. I have such fond memories of her from childhood. She was fun and laughed often. I especially loved that she wore pearls and a sweater set at home--very June Cleaver! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

i work at sunset home, i love babs we had so much fun together.

i will miss her .she was the best and love the red sox like i do.

I first met Babs when I worked in a medical office in the mid 70's and have seen her many times over the years. What a delightful, wonderful lady. She was a joy to have known. My prayers and sympathy go out to the family.
