John Cobb Obituary

CORINNA -- John F. Cobb, 72, Corinna, died May 15, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 15, 1938 in Dexter, the son of Francis F. And Phyllis R. (Worden) Cobb Sr. He was educated in schools of Dexter and Malden, Mass. He was a Navy veteran. In 1979, he married Neva Gould at St. Albans. John worked as a machinist most of his life in the surrounding area and was also a member of International Machinist Association Local 1696 of Dexter and was elected its president for one term. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking, but mostly the company of his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Neva Cobb, of Corinna; a son, John Cobb II, two daughters, Valerie Brown and Robyn Flanders, all from Athens; a step-daughter, Vicky Conner, of Garland; two brothers, Francis F. Cobb of Tewksbury, Mass., and Robert M. Cobb of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland; a sister, Clara Giambusso, of Miraloma, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Thelma Pomeroy, Deloris Leighton and Margaret Lawrence; stepson Randy Burpee; his granddaughter, Bridget Stutzke; and great-grandson Jackob.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to John F. Cobb Memorial Fund, c/o Neva Cobb, 168 Merrill Road, Corinna, ME 04928.

Graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Corinna Center Cemetery, Center Road, Corinna.

Arrangements under the direction of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, ME 04947.

God Rest Your Soul Uncle Johnny... You will not be forgotten... He was my favorite uncle and I will miss him dearly... he always mad me laugh and was there for my father when he needed him....I know my father's heart is broken as he not only lost a brother but his best friend..... Uncle Johnny: I'll always remember those many visits to Maine as a small boy watching You and the Cobb family gathered around the kitchen table and telling some of the funniest stories I've ever heard from the best story-teller I've ever known. We always enjoyed get togethers with John (daddy) around,always joking with everyone, making us laugh. He loved my baked beans so I guess for all of our future get togethers with family and friends, I will have to make my beans for him. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
