Leo was born June 21, 1945, the son of Leonel U. Lanteigne Sr. and Ida May (Soucy) Lanteigne.
He was educated in Waterville schools and graduated from Waterville Senior High School, where he was very active in school sports.
Leo married Pamela (Irby) Lanteigne, who predeceased him on Sept. 24, 2005. He proudly served in the Army for 18 years and was stationed in Oklahoma and 14 years in Germany. He was a sergeant when he had to take an early retirement due to health issues. Leo was an avid hunter and fisherman following in his dad's footsteps. Most recently, he enjoyed metal detecting and involvement in the Water-Oak Gem & Mineral Society of Waterville. These were great pastimes for him especially times spent with his significant other, Rose Rowe. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Theresa Pouliot.
He is survived by sisters Mary Jane Clukey and husband Steven of Waterville, and Trudy Lovely of Winslow; niece Josette (Pouliot) Roberts and husband Eric and family of Waterville; nephews Samuel and Randy Lovely and families, Barry Clukey and wife Cora and family, all of Winslow, Alan Pouliot, Paula Bennett and family of Fairfield Center, and Andy Pouliot and family of Gautier, Miss.; Pamela's daughter, Shannon, of Oregon; and several cousins in the Waterville area. He is also survived by his significant other, Rose Rowe, of Benton, who was a tremendous help to him and his family during the time of his illness.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Rose, the hospice nurse, who cared for him in his home, and the hospice unit nurses who gave him such excellent care.
Private burial with military honors will be held at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
Arrangements are with Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. Condolences and memories may be shared in the guestbook at www.gallantfh.com.

With deepest sympathy at the loss of Leo. I had not seen him since we graduated from high school but he was one of the good guys that was always polite and great to have as a class mate. My prayers and thoughts are with all of his family and loved ones.
