Robert Cray Obituary

PALMYRA -- Robert L. Cray Jr., 54, died unexpectedly June 1, 2011, at his residence. He was born Dec. 9, 1956, in Waterville, a son of Robert and Marion (McLaughlin) Cray Sr. He graduated from Nokomis Regional High, class of 1975. Bobby was a self-employed carpenter and floor installer for all of his life.

He married the former Rhonda (Hosea) on Feb. 25, 1982, in Florida. In 1988, they moved back to Maine. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Jubilee Family Worship Center in Newport. Bobby loved God, his family and others. He will be remembered as a great father and a wonderful, loving husband. He took great pride in the care of his parents and family.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Cray III and Rachael Cray; a grandson, Matthew Cray; a sister, Velma, and husband Carl Palmer, all of Palmyra; two brothers, Richard Cray Sr. and wife Carol of Hartland and Ronald Cray of Nassau, N.Y.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his parents-in-law, Mark and Madoline Hosea, of Ocala, Fla. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Myles and Fern Cray; and his grandparents-in-law, Frank and Anna Hosea.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, at Jubilee Family Worship Center, 163 Elm St., Newport, with the Rev. Scott Black and Pastor Brian Woodbury officiating. Burial will be in the Palmyra Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the church building fund, 163 Elm St., Newport, ME 04953.

I have very fond childhood memories of Bobby.. I was glad we went to school from grammer school all the way to high school.. He was a good friend.. Sorry we lost touch over the years but I did see him occasionally in the store in Corinna when him and rick stopped in a couple summers ago for lunch.. My love and thoughts go out to the family.
