Roland was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. His many jobs over the years included working for 25 years as a cutter at Norrwock Shoe, serving as a police officer in Skowhegan for over 20 years, as a manager of Laverdiere's Drug store for a year, and working at a dry cleaning store in Waterville and Winslow for several years. He had a number of hobbies and interests, including being a member of the Skowhegan Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles, American Legion and Elks. He also enjoyed softball and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Savage) St. Pierre; a son, Michael St. Pierre, of Lawrence, Mass.; two daughters, Patricia Webb, and husband Alvyn of Madison, and Donna St. Pierre of Skowhegan; three grandchildren, Jay Webb and Ada Webb, both of Madison, and Brandy St. Pierre of Skowhegan; five great-grandchildren, Krysta, Devon, Dakota and Trapper, all of Madison, and Nariah of Skowhegan; a sister, Lillian Parker, of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. Roland was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 10 at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. A reception will follow the service at Tewksbury Hall on the island in Skowhegan from noon to 2 p.m. for a celebration of Roland's life.
