Roland St. Pierre Obituary

SKOWHEGAN -- Roland J.A. "Rollie" "Slick" St. Pierre, 88, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at his home in Skowhegan. He was born in Waterville on April 23, 1923, the son of Arthur and Elise (Morin) St. Pierre.

Roland was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. His many jobs over the years included working for 25 years as a cutter at Norrwock Shoe, serving as a police officer in Skowhegan for over 20 years, as a manager of Laverdiere's Drug store for a year, and working at a dry cleaning store in Waterville and Winslow for several years. He had a number of hobbies and interests, including being a member of the Skowhegan Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles, American Legion and Elks. He also enjoyed softball and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Savage) St. Pierre; a son, Michael St. Pierre, of Lawrence, Mass.; two daughters, Patricia Webb, and husband Alvyn of Madison, and Donna St. Pierre of Skowhegan; three grandchildren, Jay Webb and Ada Webb, both of Madison, and Brandy St. Pierre of Skowhegan; five great-grandchildren, Krysta, Devon, Dakota and Trapper, all of Madison, and Nariah of Skowhegan; a sister, Lillian Parker, of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. Roland was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 10 at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. A reception will follow the service at Tewksbury Hall on the island in Skowhegan from noon to 2 p.m. for a celebration of Roland's life.

Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society New England Division, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
