He was born in Arlington, Mass., on Dec. 23, 1917, to J. Henry and Mary (Wallace) Duffy.
Duff received his college degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and his medical degree from Boston University. He was a captain in the Army and served in Germany during World War II.
He married Mary Henry on July 15, 1945, in Lexington, S.C.
Duff practiced medicine and general surgery in Farmington until 1976 and then spent summers at "camp" on Porter Lake and winters in Florida. He worked at several migrant farm workers clinics in central Florida. Duff and Mary loved the warm Florida weather and especially enjoyed New Smyrna Beach. Duff loved spending time with his family and wonderful friends in Maine and Florida.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Duffy, of Farmington; son John and Gina Duffy of Temple; grandson Matthew and Kristen Duffy of Pasadena, Md.; granddaughters Jill Duffy of Naugatuck, Conn., and Abby and Joe Eagers of Lisbon; great-grandchildren Colton and Grayson Duffy of Pasadena, Md.; nephews Stewart and Nancy Bither of East Booth Bay, and Richard and Denise Bither of Detroit, Mich.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2011, from 3 to 4 p.m., with funeral services to immediately follow at 4 p.m., both at Loomis Family Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Road, Farmington, ME 04938; or to a charity of your choice.
