Breiding Sr., 80
SANFORD -- Charles E. Breiding Sr., 80, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at his residence.
He was born in Falmouth on May 14, 1930, the son of the late Richard E. and Ruth M. (Kenney) Breiding.
He served in the U.S. Amy during the Korean Conflict. A disabled veteran, he was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, Korean Service Medal, five Bronze Service Stars, Army Occupation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation.
For many years he was the owner of B.W. Insulation. He ran his business until his retirement at the age of 70.
Charles was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his son. He was a kind and gentle soul, and was loved dearly by his whole family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeannette Alice (Johnson) Breiding; his children, Dorothy Jean Dyer, Nancy Elaine Dyer, Anne Breiding Kumph, Charles Ernest Breiding Jr.; 11 grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Breiding, currently residing in Scarborough.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. An hour of visitation will start at 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
