Dianna Wilcox Obituary

Dianna Lynn (Hicks) Wilcox
WESTBROOK -- God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, 'Come to me.' A tender heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
Dianna Wilcox went to rest in the arms of the Lord forever after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Portland the daughter of the late Hugh M. Hicks Sr. on Feb. 18, 1954. She was a graduate of Portland High School, the class of 1973. Dianna and her husband, Allie, knew each other in kindergarten and all through life. They married as high school sweethearts in 1972, their junior year of high school. Her son was six months old at their graduation.
Dianna's parents had remarried early on in her life. Her father married Dorothy (Gagne) Hicks when Dianna was very young. They both worked very hard to raise the family. Her mother and father owned a variety store where she had worked while going to school.
In 1975, Dianna and Allie moved to Buxton where they raised two sons. Dianna had so much fun watching them grow. In 1981, she went to work for Unitrode as a tech. She also had worked for Clarostat. Dianna went to work for the Reese Corporation where she worked for ten years. She worked in the parts department as well as the machine shop. She also took classes and earned a certificate as a machinist.
When Reese moved to Virginia in 1992, Dianna went to work for Gorham Savings Bank. She had worked there for 14 years. She loved it there. She said that it had to be the best job she ever had. She made a lot of wonderful friends while at Gorham Savings Bank. When she had to leave because of her illness, it broke her heart. She still kept in touch with all of her friends as well as her customers. They never stopped sending thank you and get well cards in the mail.
Dianna loved going to baseball games watching her sons play and cheering them on. It was always so much fun for her. She was a wonderful mother whom any child would be very proud to have. She always had the most beautiful smile. It was so contagious. Even while she was
Dianna Lynn
(Hicks) Wilcox
not feeling well, she would always smile. Dianna was one of the toughest, most positive persons that anyone could ever meet.
She loved spending time with the family, going lout to eat, watching movies, doing word searches, and making her own jewelry. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and going to Hollywood Slots.
Even after all she went through, you would never hear her once say, 'Why me?' She was never concerned so much about herself as she was family and friends and how well they were going to handle her illness.
Dianna was predeceased by both her father, Hugh M. Hicks Sr., and her biological mother, Florence M. (Pete) Salang; a stepfather, Oscar Salang Sr.; two sisters, Clara and Betty, three brothers, Raymond Hicks, Hugh Hicks Jr., and Oscar Salang Jr. Dianna leaves behind her husband, Allie Wilcox Sr., of 39 years, whom she adored; two sons, Allie Wilcox Jr. ant his wife Jessica of Limington, Eric Wilcox and his fiance Darcy Langella of Buxton; and three grandsons, Corey Wilcox, Tyler Wansor, and Wyatt Bennett, all of Limington. She also leaves behind her mother, Dorothy Hicks of Westbrook; three sisters, Yvonne Norberg and her husband Harold of Westbrook, Brenda O'Brien and her husband Richard of Buxton, Marina (Salang) White and her husband Rick White of Old Orchard Beach, two brothers, Paul Gagne of Palmyra, Bruce Hicks of Limington, and sister-in-law Diana Hicks of Limington; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dianna would like to thank the doctors and their staff for the care she had received while she was going through her battle; as well as those at Springbrook for all of their care and kindness. She would like to thank Cindy and David Langella of Buxton for their thoughts and kindness. A final thanks needs to go out to Pam and Chuck Freeman of Limerick; I love you both and you will forever be so special in my heart.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Never in all my life have I seen such an ideal couple full of all the love you have for each other!! In all the time I have know you two, I have not once witnessed even the start of an argument..All I have ever seen is your radiant shines of love and lets not forget your compassion and concerns for others even tho you were battling soo much inside and having a 24 hour every day fight, you always kept that smile that every one has written about Dianna! You are a jewel, a very rare gem, there arent many like you at all! I will miss your emails, talking with you, and now the chance of being in your presence once again..I finally got to meet your boys and wow, I have had some lost time, you both have rasied some very precious jewels of your own, I fell right in love with them the minute I laid eyes on them! They demonstrate that love that I always saw in you dear lady and I know they will go on and take care of their Dad now and be as strong whenever wherever they can! I watched Allie leaning over you carressing your hair, rubbing your cheeks, etc that night in your hospital room, tears just streaming as he sang "The most beautiful girl in the world" to you and my whole body got numb and my heart showed itself very powerfully through my eyes as the love just flowed and flowed and the tears just fell and fell..YOu know how much I think of him, he is my GEM of a cousin and I will be there for him and your precious boys as they should ever need me! I sure can tell you that but Honey, I will never ever in all the reat of my life ever forget the LOVE I have always seen in the both of you, a love that is not only in the hearts but felt every where you two would be! There was never a time in our talks over the phone (Allie and me) that he did not talk about his "beautiful princess" and how much he loved her! You have left such a legacy that your Allie and boys will leave on and on and spread just as you did no matter what you were going through! Jesus said "This is my commandment that you love one another" and that is just what you did no matter where you went or what you ever did, you loved everybody and reading all these entries it surely did spread every where..Yes Dianna, you are one of a kind, I love you and will miss you always...

Dear Beloved Wilcox Family,

Dianna was not just a sister in-law to me, she was like my real sister, as well as my friend, I loved her from the day she met my brother Allie and I felt the warm heart that she had to offer my brother. Diane was the kind of woman and mother that made me want to be a better woman. You and Allie have done so much for my family, and you have been by my side through anything I needed whether it was your listening I needed or the warmth or your hugs you had to offer my tears. Your smile and laughter will be missed by everybody that ever came in contact with you but your pain and suffering is no longer and now you can finally rest in peace my sister and fly with the angels.
I love you Dianna,

Dear Allie, Allie Jr. and Eric,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife and mother. Your family was always the family everyone else wanted and looked up to. It was always visibly apparent how much, Allie, that you and Dianna loved each other and your boys. Dianna was a very special, loving, and caring person to her family and all that had the pleasure to know her. She always had a positive outlook on life. I will always remember her beautiful, bright, and cheerful smile whenever I saw her, especially at little league baseball games while you and I were coaching the team and your boys to victory, well not always, but we tried really hard! Dianna will be missed by many, but is in peace now with God. Please have comfort in that thought and keep your memories close to your heart.

My condolences, Darlene(Palmer) Allen, St Johns,Florida

To Allie and children,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories of Dianna bring you comfort. In the Bible book of Job he stated his prospect and it is comforting to us. "If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou will have a desire to the work of thine hands." – Job 14:14, 15
So Job looked with hope to the day when God will call the dead to life eternal.
