Georgette C.
Mailman, 85
SACO -- Georgette 'Georgie' Mailman, 85, of Saco, passed away on Sunday morning at her home after a lengthy illness. She was comforted by family and friends continuously during her last days.
Georgette was born in Biddeford on Dec. 9, 1925, the daughter of Emile and Aurore (Jariz) Grenier. She and her identical twin sister, Pauline, were inseparable during their childhood years.
She met the love of her life, Earle Mailman, when she was 23 years old. They were married in Biddeford on Sept. 5, 1949, and just recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary together.
Before starting a family, Georgette worked briefly at Kesslin Shoe in Kennebunk. She also worked at the soda fountain at Liggett's Drug Store in Biddeford, where she and her twin were known as the 'Toni Twins.'
Georgette and her family spent most of their summers at Little Ossipee Pond, owning and operating the Leisure Motel for many years, where Georgie looked forward to an afternoon swim, boat ride or nap.
Upon her husband's retirement, Georgette and Earle wintered at their home at Lakeside Ranch in Winter Haven, Fla., where they often got together with friends. Dancing with Earle at special holiday gatherings at the club house was one of Georgette's favorite Florida activities, along with going to flea markets, dining out, attending concerts and playing shuffleboard.
She treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren, kidding around with them whenever she had the opportunity. Her sense of humor was infectious.
Georgette is survived by her devoted husband, Earle Mailman; three sons, Gordon Mailman and his wife Joyce, Steven Mailman and his wife Patricia, and Wayne Mailman; her seven grandchildren, Tony Slowik, Jana Mailman-Keegan, Mindy Mailman, Randy Mailman, Courtney Mailman, Garon Mailman, and Krissy Mailman; her two great- granddaughters, Maci Gould and Avery Keegan; and her twin, Pauline Audie. She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Mae, who died in 1964 at the tender age of 12.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jen and Julie for their irreplaceable high quality, compassionate care, especially during the last couple of weeks.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 5, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Cote Funeral Home, located at the corner of James and Beach Streets in Saco. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. Family and friends are invited to the Biddeford Saco Country Club for a light lunch after the interment.
