Jennie C. Rittall, 94
NOBLEBORO -- Jennie C. Rittall, 94, passed away on the morning of May 5, 2011 at the Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. Born on Sept. 20, 1916, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Adams) Wylie.
Jennie grew up in Boothbay, attending local schools and graduating from high school there. Shortly after graduation, she married Cecil Rittall and the couple would start their family in Woolwich, before moving to Nobleboro in 1942.
During the war, Jennie went to work at Bath Iron Works before becoming a waitress at the Cheechako Restaurant in Damariscotta. She would eventually go to work at Sylvania Electric in Waldoboro, where she stayed for over 25 years.
Jennie loved to bowl, and at one point, was a member of several singles and couples leagues. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many countries throughout Europe. Jennie was also a very loyal member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newcastle.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Rittall, Sr.; two children, Ralph Rittall and Carolyn 'Iverne' Benner; three siblings, John Wylie, Della Cormier and Lois Farmhan; and one grandchild, Laurel Keith.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Marcia-Carrigan and her husband Fred of Madison, ME, a son, Cecil Rittall, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Nobleboro; one sister, Marjorie Goodrich of Boothbay; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; a special niece, who spent many hours by her side, Gabriella Soohey; as well as her very special friend, Patsy Dufresne.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta. A funeral will be held on Thursday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband and two children in the Dunbar Cemetery in Nobleboro.
