Mae Batchelor, 84
WESTBROOK -- Mae Batchelor, 84, of Westbrook, died in New York. Mrs. Batchelor was born in Westbrook on March 23, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John A. Batchelor Sr. Mae was a lifelong resident of Maine and is survived by her three children, John A. Batchelor Jr. and Robert Batchelor, both of Dover-Foxcroft, and Judith Bennett of Westbrook. Mae was also a devoted grandmother of eight and great- grandmother of 10.
She was active in the Westbrook- Warren Congregational Church and a member of Group 3AB of the church. Mae was also a member of the Westbrook Woman's Club, Westbrook American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hatters Club.
She was a generous woman, who was well known and well liked in the community. She volunteered in many charities, including Preble Street Resource Center, local election centers, Westbrook Together Days and many more. Mae had a passion for travel and visited destinations world-wide. She most enjoyed her time with her family, including teaching her great-grandchildren to knit. She attended her great- grandchildren's school activities and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was in New York to attend her granddaughter's communion when she fell ill.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 4, at 1 p.m., at the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St., Westbrook. Arrangements are by Chase Funeral Home, Westbrook.
