Robert Turmelle Obituary

Robert R. Turmelle, 83
ENFIELD, Conn. -- Robert R. Turmelle, 83, of Enfield, Conn., beloved husband of Margaret (Gleason) Turmelle for 58 years, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Sanford on Sept. 17, 1927, the son of the late Clara (Smith) and Theodore Joseph Turmelle, and resided in Enfield for more than 50 years.
Bob graduated from Sanford High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Army of Occupation in Japan as an M.P. He retired after 32 years at Pratt & Whitney, and he worked part-time for 47 years at The Scitico Market at the meat counter, where he was fondly known as 'Mr. T.'
He was a communicant and Usher of St. Bernard Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and ran the weekly Bingo for 15 years, where he was affectionately known as 'Bingo Bob.'
All who knew Bob would agree he was first and foremost a gentleman and a man of God, as well as a devoted father and proud grandfather. He embraced his illness and was humbled by it in the end after a blessedly short battle.
In addition to his wife, Margie, he is survived by his loving daughter, Kathleen Khoshneviss and her husband Mosen of Simsbury, Conn.; his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Kamran and Ryan Khoshneviss; his very special sister-in-law, Mary Kelly; and his long-time 'Red Shirt' buddies, Lucille Langlois, Rita and Leo Smith and Pauline and Bob Beaudry. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edgar 'Blackie' Turmelle and Wilfred 'Chub' Turmelle; his brothers- in-law, Thomas Gleason and Francis Gleason; and far too many of his closest friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., in Saint Bernard's Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, Conn. A private burial will be held at a later date. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, Conn. Bob's family extends special thanks to the Critical Care nurses and at Manchester Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided during the last two weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphona Society and/or
St. Bernard Church of Enfield.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Mr T,s illness & passing. He was a very kind and gentle man, always with a smile on his face. We have so many fond memories of the "good ole days" with all the fun "Red Shirts" gang.
