Roberta P. 'Bobbie' Cavanaugh, 81
SOUTH PORTLAND -- Roberta 'Reidy' Cavanaugh, 81, of Angell Avenue, South Portland, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at a Portland Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Reidy was born in Caribou, the daughter of Philip and Mina Kennison Patrick. She was educated in the Bangor Schools, class of 1947, and was a graduate of Husson College.
On Oct. 22, 1955, she married Philip Cavanaugh.
She was employed at Bath Iron Works, Maine Fisherman Newspaper, Mercy Hospital, Emery Waterhouse, Headstart and Hannaford Brothers.
Reidy was active with the 5th Maine Regiment/Defenders, and was a member of the Holy Cross Church.
She enjoyed knitting, reading and watching New England sports. With her husband, they almost made it all the way around the world on cruise ships. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Reidy was courageously a three time breast cancer survivor.
Predeceasing her was her brother Philip, sister Madalene; and grandchildren, Henry and Mya Tabachnick. Surviving are her husband of 55 years; sons, John, Danny and his wife Angela, Pat and his wife Cheryl Cavanaugh, daughters, Mary Ann Harris, Aileen and husband Bob Tabachnick, Jane Cavanaugh, Jan and husband Jeff Mansfield and Patti Smith; grandchildren, Shawn, Andrea, Sarah, Allie and Brian Harris, Jake, Abe and Elijah Tabachnick, Nicole Abell, Nastassja Varney, Kelsey and Ava Cavanaugh, Phil and Matt Cavanaugh, Heather Rubito, Jess Forstner, Mallary Smith; great- grandchildren, Cadence, Ruby, Byron, Tyler, Cooper and Makenzie; and two nephews, Perley and Donald Patrick.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, April 25, 2011, from 4-7 p.m., at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
