Jean Eleanor Lampert Lewis was born in Auburn, NY on October 13, 1926 to Henry A. Lampert and Mary (Knapp) Lampert. She passed away quietly in her sleep on April 13, 2013 at age 86. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1944. After high school, she attended Bucknell Junior College (now Wilkes College in Scranton, PA) and graduated in 1948 from Buchnell University with a degree in Biology. She was part of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at Buchnell and made many friends at college in the sorority and everywhere they lived through the alumnae association. In August 1949, she married her college sweet heart, Emrys ('Easy') P. Lewis, Jr. of Nanticoke, PA. Emrys graduated from Penn State University
in 1949 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. They were married for 48 years, until Easy's death in 1997. They had 3 children: Pamela (Lewis) Robinson (Chuck), Rhys Lewis (Trina) and Evan Lewis. She also had 7 grandchildren: Leah (Lewis) Stinnett, Rhys Lewis (Jesse), Ryan Lewis, Kaitlyn Lewis, Morgan Lewis, Austin (Lewis) Loomis, and Evan Lewis. And she also had one great - granddaughter, Rhea Loomis. Jean worked for Merck, Sharp and Dohme in their laboratory before having her children. Easy's job with Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania took the family all over Pennsylvania. She was active in her local church, Boy and Girl Scouts and the League of Women Voters. Jean and Easy traveled extensively though out the United States and Europe. She loved to travel with her college friends and family and to read, write and gardening. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
