Alice Lonsdorf Obituary
Alice Belew Lonsdorf Alice Belew Lonsdorf, beloved wife of Richard G Lonsdorf, MD, of Waverly Heights, Gladwyne, PA died peacefully in her home on April 10, 2014 with her husband of 64 years at her side. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1942 at age 19 with a BFA in Fine Arts. She was Assistant Dean for Alumni Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1980-1986). Mrs. Lonsdorf was well known throughout the Philadelphia area for her many accomplishments including: Founding member and Chairman of Friends of Independence National Historical Park (1972), President of the Junior League of Philadelphia, A Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania (1980), Member of the Women's Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Founding member of Friends of Chamounix Mansion International Hostel. She was the founding Chairman of "Philadelphia Open House" (1979), was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Philadelphia and was respected by many as a decoupage fine artist. She was on the Waverly Heights Board of Trustees from 2003-2011. She is survived by her husband, Richard, and sons George (Deborah Holljes) of Narberth, PA, David (Marilyn Chohaney) of Verona, WI, and Robert (Lino Aleylunas) of Bali, Indonesia, grandchildren Eric (Elizabeth), Richard, Katherine, and Paul Lonsdorf and great-grandchildren Siena and Jackson Lonsdorf. She is preceded in death by her parents David O. Belew and Maizie Erskine Belew, sister Maizie Belew Johndroe, and brother Judge David O. Belew, Jr, all of Fort Worth, TX. A Celebration of her life will be held at Waverly Heights Auditorium, 1400 Waverly Road, Gladwyne, PA 19035 at 3 pm on Saturday, April 19. Condolences may be sent to the family at this address.
