Arthur Henshey Moss

Arthur Henshey Moss July 26, 1930 - May 9, 2013 Wayne, PA history-buff, fly-fisherman, gardener, home-chef, community leader, attorney, and beloved family man passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side the morning of May 9th. Son of John Arthur and Christine Henshey from Wyomissing, PA, Arthur is survived by his wife Leslie (Chessie) Fritz Moss, sisters Jane Richey (wife of Herman Richey) and Christine Moss, his sons Benjamin McTyiere Gaston IV, MD (husband of Susan B. Gaston, MD), Herbert Peter Gaston, MD (husband of Anita R. Gaston), John Arthur Moss, David Rittenhouse Gaston (husband of Kathryn P. Gaston), and Robert Fritz Gaston (partner of Michael P. Sheldon), and his thirteen grandchildren: Renee Gaston, Daniel Gaston, Elizabeth Gaston, Simon Gaston, Emma Gaston, Rachel Gaston, David Moss, Jamie Gaston, Hannah Gaston, Eleanor Gaston, Philip Gaston, Paul Gaston and Caroline Gaston. Arthur received his Bachelors from Williams College in 1952 and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1955 where he also served as the editor of the Law Review. Upon graduating he became a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy JAG corps serving in Japan. He spent 40 years practicing as an attorney with Montgomery, McCracken, Walker and Rhoads in Philadelphia, starting as an associate and later becoming partner. Arthur was active in The Wayne Presbyterian Church serving as a chair of a pastoral search committee, Steward, Deacon, Ruling Elder and Trustee, and also serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Presbytery of Philadelphia. With a passion for the community and civic service he served as Chairman of the Radnor-Haverford-Marple Sewer District, Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for John Bartram Association, Trustee of the Radnor Memorial Library and Director of the Radnor Historical Society. He was also an avid member of the Broadacres Trouting Association and The Merion Golf Club. A private internment will be held with the family. A public memorial will be held at Wayne Presbyterian Church,125 East Lancaster Ave., Wayne, Pa. 19087 on Saturday May 18th at 11:00 am.
