Cedric C. Philipp

Cedric C. Philipp Cedric C. Philipp died on July 18, 2013 at home in Shannondell, Audobon, PA. He is survived by Sue, his wife of 60 years, their children Tad, Christopher and Julie and three grandchildren. He was born in Iquique Chile, July 3, 1922. His family moved to New York City in 1929. Studies at Columbia University, NY City, were interrupted when Philipp entered the US Army in December 1943. Commissioned at Fort Benning, GA he is now in its hall of fame. He was in the Rhineland campaign. Towards the end of the war he joined a team in Spain to capture Hitler if he escape there. Philipp was US representative on the Quadripartite Property Control Secretariat in Berlin. Leaving the Army in October 1946, Philipp with Lt. Raymond Heckmann USMC, drove a jeep from Venezuela to Chile. He believed it was the first trip by vehicle the length of South America, totally overland. Following graduation from Columbia, he attended the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs of Princeton University. He joined the US Department of State Bureau of Inter-American Affairs. Then for 30 years he was an executive of Wyeth International, working in 44 countries. On retirement he headed a consultancy to the pharmaceutical industry. He went on extended assignments to assist pharmaceutical companies in Mexico and Uruguay as a volunteer for the International Executive Service Corps. Philipp lived in Radnor for 39 years. He was president of the Radnor Memorial Library for two terms and Treasurer of the Radnor Democratic Party for 12 years. He was a fill-in organist and on the vestry of St. Martin's Episcopal Church. A private internment will be held in the memorial garden at St. Martin's. The funeral service will be held at 2:00, Saturday July, 27th at Christ Church, Ithan, 536 Conestoga Road, Villanova.
