Charles R. Hann 85, of Newtown Square PA. husband of the late Althea C. Hann, and Rosemarie D. Hann, passed away peacefully Saturday September 15, 2012 at his home in Dunwoody Village, in Newtown Square, PA. He was born in Newark, NJ. On October 16, 1926 to the late Floyd J. Hann and the late Grace D. Hann. Charles is survived by his son, Christopher R. Hann, (Colleen) of New Canaan, CT. Devoted step-father to Edward C Meyer Jr. (Patricia), Kathryn Meyer Addis (Paul), Christine E. Meyer, Thomas J. Meyer M.D. (Harriet). Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lili Meyer, Michael Addis, Victoria Addis, Robert Addis, Claire Addis, Daniel Meyer, and Joseph Meyer. He was also survived by 4 neices: Betsy T. Casciano (Anthony), Donna K. Erb (Harley), Robin K. Collier, Karen K. Skeehan (Thomas), and a nephew, Thomas P. Tanis Jr. (Janet), and their children. While studying at Lafayette College, he was called into Military duty during WW II, to learn the Japanese language. He completed the Armed Services Training program, Japanese Area and Language Program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Fortunately, the War ended before he was to travel overseas. He was also a member of the fraternity DKE (Delta Kappa Epsilon) in college. After graduating from Lafayette College in 1948, he went on to Cornell University, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in Law in 1951. He also took graduate courses in anti-trust and trade regulation law at the New York University of law. His career spanned six decades, and after graduating from Cornell, he held positions in several law firms in New Jersey and New York, including Milbank Tweed. In 1955, he joined the law department at Allied Chemical Corporation in New York, where he practiced general commercial and corporate law. In 1961 he moved to Olin Corporation in Stamford CT, where he was International Council and remained there until 1989. After a very brief retirement, he joined Altman Weil in Newtown Square, PA in 1990, where he stayed until his retirement in 2003. Charles was active in the legal community throughout his career, holding numerous leadership positions for organizations, including the Law Department Management Committee of the American Corporate Council Association; the Corporate Division of the ABA section on the Economics of Law Practice; and the Law Department Organization and Management Subcommittee, Corporate Council Committee of the ABA Business Law section. His admissions include: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1989, The State of New York 1951. The State of New Jersey 1952, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey 1952, and The United States Supreme Court, 1964. His memberships include: The Westchester Fairfield Corporate Council Association (WESFACCA), President 1984, The American Bar Association, Section on Economics of Law Practice, Corporate Division, Liaison Chairman; The section on International Law and Practice Senior Lawyers Division; American Corporate Council Association; Past member of the Executive Committee of the Cornell Law School Alumni Association; New Jersey Corporate Council Association; New Jersey State Bar Association; and the Philadelphia Bar Association. After retirement, his memberships include: The Right Angle Club of Philadelphia, The Brown Bag Lunches at Ludington Library, Overbrook Country Club, President of the Dunwoody Village Resident Association, and many others. Family and friends may visit at the McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 West Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore Pa. Thursday September 20 from 7 - 9 P.M. Funeral Mass will be on Friday September 21, at 10:00 am, St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, and interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler Pa.
