Constance Nold Obituary

Constance ("Connie") Turner Nold, 86, of Severna Park, Maryland died early Friday morning, October 3, following a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of Russell Sage Turner and Mary Elizabeth Larratt Turner of Harmony, Rhode Island, Connie was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1927 and spent her childhood in Billerica, Massachusetts. Connie received a BS in Music from Skidmore College in 1949 and taught music before becoming a flight attendant for TWA. In 1954, she left TWA to marry her husband, the late Charles ("Bud") Nold, and start a family. While raising three children in Radnor, Pennsylvania, Connie worked for 20 years as personal assistant to the John Haas family of Villanova. She later moved to Paoli where she resided until a move to Severna Park, Maryland with her son two years ago. Connie was known by her family and friends for her natural curiosity and active intellect. She was forever chasing a word for her New York Times Crossword Puzzle, or in later years when she discovered a Kindle, deep in a game of Scrabble. Connie enjoyed working with her hands and was an accomplished pianist. She loved to share gifts she created by sewing or working with flowers. As a member of the local Garden Club, Connie mentored neighborhood children in making floral arrangements for May Day competitions. An avid tennis player, she competed often at Martin's Dam Swim Club where she was a member for many years. During her long illness, Connie amazed her family and friends with great resilience, grace, and humor in the face of adversity. Her illness inspired the best in her, and brought forth a mischievous smile and infectious laugh that will remain strong in the hearts of all that knew her. Connie will be forever beloved by her surviving three children, Katherine Nemecek of Simpsonville, SC, Dr. Jeffrey Nold of Severna Park, MD, and Elisabeth Siegfried of Pottstown, PA, their spouses, and by her ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who knew her as "Nana." The family has made arrangement for cremation, and a short service will be held at the burial site at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd on October 18, 2014 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
