Eleanor Wooden Obituary

Eleanor Smith Wooden, JANUARY 22, 1918 - JULY 26, 2014 96, of Wellington in West Chester passed away peacefully on July 26. Eleanor lived a long, full and fruitful life. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she lived in Baltimore and Towson for 36 years before moving to Wayne, PA. In 1956. Eleanor is survived by her 4 children, Linda Diefendorf of Littleton, Colorado, Janet O'Reilly of Malvern, Donyce Sprecher of South Padre Island, Texas and Jeffrey wooden of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. She also had 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Eleanor loved to be of service to others. She spent many hours volunteering at the Wayne Women's Exchange, Bryn Mawr Hospital and the Wayne Presbyterian Church. Her love of gardening earned her the nickname of "Weedie" by her longtime friend, Jack Nelson. She will be missed by her family and friends who are thankful that she is now free of earthly pain and in perfect peace with her lord. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Avenue in Frazer. Donations in her memory may be made to the American diabetes association, PO box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312 or neighborhood hospice, 400 e. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA. 19380. Please include the name and address of the donor and the name of the person for whom the donation is made.
