Elizabeth Corey Quay

Elizabeth Corey Quay, 94, died on January 18, 2013 at Beaumont in Bryn Mawr, PA. Mrs. Quay was born in Atlantic City, NJ, to Elizabeth and J. Alfred Corey on February 11, 1918. She was a graduate of Baldwin School and Bryn Mawr College and lived in Devon, PA, before moving to Beaumont in 1999. Mrs. Quay was an avid golfer and long-time member of St. David's Country Club, enjoyed sailing and playing bridge, and was a volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital. In the final years of her life, Mrs. Quay was cared for lovingly by her daughter, Mary Quay, and visited often by her three grandchildren: Sara Quay, Suzanne Schurr, and Will Quay. She will be remembered for her wit and lively spirit which were enjoyed by all. Mrs. Quay is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Quay, and son, William H. Quay, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Quay of Cambridge, MA, three grandchildren, Sara Quay of Middleton, MA, Suzanne Schurr of Raleigh, NC, and Will Quay of St. David's, PA, as well as two great-grandchildren, Hannah Schurr and Rachel Schurr both of Raleigh, NC. A Private Service was held in the music room at Beaumont with Reverend Joy Mills officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 625 West Ridge Pike, Suite 100-A, Conshohocken, PA 19048. The family wishes to thank Nelly Carney from Nelly Home Care whose companions provided excellent care to Mrs. Quay for many years. Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
