Eric James Reinholt

Eric James Reinholt of Villanova, Pennsylvania died unexpectedly on October 20, 2012. He was 43 years old. Eric was a loving father to his daughters, Amelia and Georgia, devoting himself to their education both at school and at home. In addition to supporting their interests, he exposed them to subjects that they may not otherwise have picked themselves, like baseball or the sciences. He succeeded in his desire to have his girls be curious about the world around them. Eric had a love of history, politics, the military, and was extremely patriotic. In 1996, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and served eight years with A Troop of the 104th Cavalry, First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry. After the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001, Eric was deployed with his unit to Bosnia. There they served with other NATO forces in the multi-national peacekeeping force. Eric was a natural public speaker and was eloquent at a moment's notice-he had the gift to give thoughtful, heartfelt toasts whenever the occasion arose. He loved to read and write, and believed the handwritten letter was a lost art. He embraced the "Calhoun Style" of traveling whole heartedly-trips where itineraries were minimized and only the essentials were needed; a guide book, a map, and a rental car (and he learned not to forget the cork screw). He was smart, adventurous, always easy-going and a great traveling companion-an incomparable combination that was loved by all who knew him. He received his undergraduate degree from Albion College, where he was graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn both a Master's in Government Administration from the Fels Institute of Government at The University of Pennsylvania, and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Oxford. He was honored and proud to have been selected by the First City Troop to receive the prestigious John Boyer Memorial Scholarship, with which he attended at Oxford. He is survived by his wife, Lia Calhoun Reinholt; daughters Amelia (8) and Georgia (5); parents, Richard and Doris Reinholt; siblings, Scott Reinholt (Sheryl) and Shari Moore (Scott); nephew Zachary Reinholt; and nieces Sydney Reinholt and Macie Moore.
