Evelyn S. Denlinger

Evelyn S. Denlinger 89, of New Holland, formerly of Berwyn, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Born in Paradise, she was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Grace (Latcher) Singer. Her husband of 56 years, Dr. Fairman Denlinger, died April 11, 2003. Evelyn graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a homemaker most of her life but worked as a High School teacher in Marple-Newtown for seven years. She was a member of Great Valley Presbyterian Church in Malvern where she was a Bible study leader and active in the Woman's Missionary Society. Evelyn taught herself Greek so she could read the New Testament and was active with many mission organizations including Child Evangelism Fellowship of Berwyn, PA and South Holland, IL, and Birthright Crisis Pregnancy Center in West Chester. She was also an avid crossword puzzle fan and reader, volunteering at the Eastern Lancaster County Library, was a member of the Woman's Auxiliary for American Osteopathic Assoc., and was a beloved friend to many. Surviving are three children, Nancy D., married to Dr. Larry Anderson of St. Davids, Michael C. Denlinger, Esq. of Downey, CA; and Dr. Barbara D., married to Paul Ketcham of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Andrew Anderson, Nicole Denlinger, Elizabeth Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Laura Ketcham, Garrett Ketcham, and Rachel Anderson; and a brother, Donald, married to Maria (Hanzlik) Singer of Wilmington, DE. A private graveside service will be held at Leacock Presbyterian Cemetery in Paradise for immediate family. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.
