Frederick Hastings Obituary

Frederick Allen Hastings died on February 3, 2013 at his residence in Bryn Mawr, PA., according to his wishes. He was 93. He was born on October 14, 1919 in Philadelphia. He graduated from The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, and then served briefly in the merchant service in the Pacific during World War II. In 1943 his family moved from Devon to Bryn Mawr, where he remained for the rest of his life. With his brother Bill, who died in 1999, he was a world traveler. They were occasionally joined by their younger brother, Tom, who died in 1996. Fred became an excellent photographer and had a remarkable memory for details, especially in regard to shipping lines, railroads, and also cars, which he enjoyed refurbishing. He cared deeply for his family relations. As everyone who knew him recognized, Fred was a true gentleman. He is survived by his nephew, Scott Hastings, of San Rafael, CA.; his cousins Helen Allen Granfield of Wellington, FL. and Carol Allen Baugh, of Williamsburg, VA; 7 grandcousins and 17 great-grandcousins. A Funeral Service was held on Friday February 8th at St. David's Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Colorado College, 14 East Cache La Poudre St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or to St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 S. Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087.
