Harry G. Rieger

Harry G. Rieger 81, of Chesterbrook, PA, beloved husband of Diana Pope Rieger, passed away peacefully on August 14 with his family by his side. Born May 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Harry and Katharine (Littlewood) Rieger. Harry graduated from the William Penn Charter School and received his BA degree from Williams College. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer escort in the North Atlantic. His career was spent in entrepreneurial management including printing, bulk liquid storage, indoor tennis, and telecommunications. Early retirement years were spent on Skidaway Island, Savannah, GA. Harry was a dedicated volunteer, past chair of both the Philadelphia Chapters of Goodwill Industries and the American Cancer Society, and a longtime parishioner at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana (Didi), three children, Glenn (Tamara) Rieger, of Devon, PA, Karen (Ernest) Tracy, of Wyndmoor, PA, Tracy (David) Dimarzio of King of Prussia, PA, seven grandchildren, Katherine and Grant Rieger, Dylan, Harrison, and Winslow Tracy, and Amanda and Kelly Dimarzio, a sister Joan (H. Palmer) Woodcock of Audubon, PA, and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. A memorial service of celebration will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 3 PM in the sanctuary of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in his name be made to the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
