Jacob Joyce

Jacob Joyce a lifelong Lower Merion resident, died April 5th after complications during a heart surgery. He was born October 3rd 1983 in Media, the son of Michael and Karen Joyce. He attended Stratford Friends School, Delaware Valley Friends School and Harriton High School. During his time at Stratford Friends School, Jake made an immediate impact on both his classmates and the faculty. He was the driving force for starting both the school choir and the boys' basketball team. After leaving, Jake would often go back and volunteer his time to Stratford Friends. He was a frequent participant and promoter of the Stratford Friends Annual Golf Outing. Jake went on to Harriton High school, where he was a member of the boys' basketball team. In his senior year, Harriton won the 2002 League Championship. In addition to playing basketball, he was manager of both the football and baseball teams. His impact on the Harriton community was immeasurable. A scholarship in his name has been created in the Lower Merion Township Scholarship Fund. Following Harriton, Jake started his business, Jake Joyce Landscaping. He maintained this business while also working in various jobs at elderly homes. Most recently he worked at Beaumont in Bryn Mawr. "Jacob had a heart of gold, he had a connection with everyone, everywhere he went. He will truly be missed", stated a Beaumont resident. Jake is survived by his parents Michael and Karen, his siblings Michael, Ben and Jennifer, his nephew Genie and an enduring spirit that will live on through the stories and memories of both friends and relatives. The viewing was held April 12th, with a mass the following day. He was interred at Philadelphia Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lower Merion Scholarship Fund: LMTSF P.O.
