Jeanne Brunner Obituary
Jeanne Brunner passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Jeanne lived most of her life in Montgomery County, PA. Jeanne attended Cynwyd Elementary School, Ardmore Junior High School, and graduated from Elwyn Institute in June 1970. Jeanne worked at the Lower Merion Vocational Training Center (MARC), followed by 20 years at Gladwyne SuperFresh where she received its Outstanding Customer Service Award in August 2002. Jeanne participated in several Special Olympics where she was a consistent award winner. A Phillies season ticket holder much of her adult life, Jeanne attended both playoff and World Series games. She attended her last Phillies game just a week and a half before her death. Her email address was "philliesgirl." Jeanne's hobbies included horseback riding, art, bowling, movies, dancing, swimming, basketball, bicycling, and yoga. After she retired, Jeanne regularly visited the Kitty Cottage Adoption Center near her home to pet the kittens and cats. Jeanne loved to dance and had an extensive music collection which included Barry Manilow, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Engelbert Humperdinck, Michael Jackson, the Supremes, and The Monkees. She believed that "I Dream of Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair" and "Daydream Believer (Cheer up, Sleepy Jeanne)" were written for her. She had every Disney and Pixar DVD which she enjoyed with her family and roommates. Her last request was for Shrek II. Many of Jeanne's summer vacations were spent at the Jersey shore with her family. Jeanne loved the beach and jumping waves with her nieces and nephews. She took her last beach vacation to Ocean City, NJ with two of her sisters in September. For the past five years Jeanne lived in a group home run by Step by Step, Inc. and considered them her extended family. She had a long-time boyfriend she saw as often as possible. Jeanne experienced life fully, each day filled with promise and new wonder. She was incredibly upbeat. At a meeting with her Hospice team, Jeanne interrupted to announce that her niece was expecting a baby in April. She knew each family members' birthdate and always sent a card. Her favorite place to shop was Mapes 5 & 10 Cents Store in Narberth. Though she could be extremely shy, her heart was open to everyone she met and her trust was complete. She took pride in her work, her family, and her friends. Our family is fortunate to have had Jeanne in our lives. Seeing life through her lens imbued us with a deeper compassion and placed our daily struggles in perspective. Jeanne is survived by her mother, Roberta S. Brunner of Haverford, PA, siblings, Anne B. Hunt of Weston, CT; Francis B. Keilt of Narberth, PA; Roberta B. Cestare of Lanikai, HI; Lucinda B. Barkovich of West Chester, PA, and Richard A. Brunner, Jr of Coatesville, PA; ten nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at BRINGHURST FUNERAL HOME AT WEST LAUREL HILL CEMETERY on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11am, inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Narberth, PA or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. www.forever-care.com
