Joan Corbett Obituary

Joan Elisa (nee Henefer) Corbett 56 of Ardmore, Pa. passed away Tuesday morning, 5:33 AM on June 18, 2013 surrounded by her beloved family at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania. Joanie's smile never faded as she courageously battled uterine cancer over the past year. She lived a life full of laughter and love. Born May 22, 1957 in Ozark, Alabama to Mary Joan Sullivan and Edward Phillips Henefer. She grew up in Havertown, Pa., graduating from The Baldwin School and the University of Pennsylvania. She majored in English and was an active member of the Kappa Delta Soroity. In September, 1979 she married her college sweetheart, Timothy Adam Corbett. They have spent their lives living in Ardmore and Havertown, while raising their four children. Joanie worked for the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the Smiling Face of Career Services and the Head of Credentials. She was always an active member of the Alumnae Association of The Baldwin School and headed many projects there while her daughters were enrolled, including creating the Baldwin big sister-little sister program. Joanie was exceptionally active in Harriton's athletic community while her son was playing football, wrestling and lacrosse. Joanie was extremely artistic. Her greatest passions were writing, drawing and painting. She had recently become an avid knitter- an exceptional one at that! She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Timothy Adam Corbett, her children; Ashley Erin, Allaire Victoria, Brittany Rose and Timothy Haddon Corbett, her sister Jean Elaine Henefer-Moore and her brother Edward Thomas Henefer. We love you, Mommy, always. Always and forever.
