Phyllis Yarnall Obituary

Phyllis Aspen Yarnall age 83, of Villanova, and of late, Springton Lake Village in Media, died Wed. Jan. 16, 2013. She was born August 6th, 1929 in Philadelphia to the late Alfred W. Aspen and the late Teresa Aspen Frymire of Bala Cynwyd, P.A. She was a graduate of Lower Merion High School class of 1947 and was an accomplished tennis player, and avid golfer engaging in both sports at the Philadelphia Country Club and Merion Golf Clubs. Noted for her wry sense of humor and distinctive laugh, she often kept friends and family entertained at the Loblolly Bay Yacht Club where she and her husband Jim spent the winter for many years. Phyllis was also an active volunteer at the Friends Central School and for many years the Chairman of the "soft drinks" concession for the Devon Horse Show. A forceful and determined woman, she taught herself to paint, read music and play piano. She was preceded in death in 2009 by her husband of over 50 years, James B. Yarnall, and her brothers, Al Jr., John and Darcy Aspen. She is survived by her brother Richard; her sons, James Jr. and Stephen; and her grandchildren: Sidney, Elizabeth and Rebecca Yarnall. Given her great love of animals, and her many pets, memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis' honor to the Philadelphia chapter of the ASPCA.
