Roger Arnold Obituary

Roger Stanley Arnold, 1920-2014. Roger, a longtime resident of Devon, is survived by Marion, his wife of 55 years, their son Rob and a wife Peggy and two grandsons, Gus and Charlie. Roger was born in Broad Brook, CT, and attended Middlebury College where he played the organ in chapel and became a pilot. Upon graduation, he was in the Army Air Force where he served in the African and Italian theaters of World War II. Upon his return, Roger joined the insurance industry and worked for CIGNA, formerly INA, for over 30 years, retiring as an officer. Roger was a member of Sons of The American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, the Masons and Delta Upsilon. he was also an usher at the Wayne Presbyterian Church for many years. As a lifelong member of the Republican Party, he attended many Presidential inaugurations. Roger enjoyed dancing and went to many Academy Balls as well as innumerable parties at the Union League of Philadelphia with his Lincoln Table friends. He was a Director of the Union League and served as President of the Lincoln Table. Roger particularly enjoyed his many years as a member of Waynesborough Country Club and Aronimink Golf Club. Roger was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader of history and a lifelong skier. The interment service will be private with military honors. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Washington Memorial Heritage Fdn., Box 23 Foundation, Valley Forge, PA 19481 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., #300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
