Thomas Kovach

Thomas "Kovy" Kovach passed away on Monday, April 1st, 2013 at Riddle Memorial Hospital; 22 days shy of his 79th birthday. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Kovy is survived by his wife Joyce; children Kim, Tom Jr and Mike; and step children Kim and Kathy. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graduate of Monessen High School (Monessen, PA), Kovy served 4 years in the US Coast Guard prior to attending California University of PA. A gifted athlete, Tom's initial educational career involved coaching high school basketball, which he did quite successfully at Mon Valley Catholic HS, Charleroi, PA along with Claymont HS, Claymont, DE. Tom received his Master's in Education from Villanova University in 1972 and served as vice principal at Dunellen High School in Dunellen, NJ prior to the start of his 24 year career at Conestoga Senior High School (Berwyn, PA). Tom was a lifelong educator to all children, both to those in his home and in his charge through his profession. He loved 3 things in his life, his family, Conestoga High School and Notre Dame. He brought passion to any endeavor he undertook, always getting the most out of life and its experiences. Tom and Joyce retired to Hot Springs Village, AR. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. As requested, there is no memorial service.
