William Edmond Dolman Bascome III

William Edmond Dolman Bascome III age 86, passed away on October 3, 2012 at his residence. William resided at his family owned 100 year old property in Bryn Mawr with his devoted wife of 64 years Eleanor and their five children Karen, Billy, Ricky, Michael and Robert. He graduated from the Church Farm School in Exton, Penna. where he was an outstanding athlete. He joined the Navy right out of school and was a proud veteran of World War II having traveled through Asia and the Pacific. William played baseball for the Quaker Chemicals. He was an avid outdoorsman, passionately enjoying golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. His career was outdoors as a landscaper. Bill was a Big Game hunter in Canada and North America. He fished during the mid-winter from Montauk for Cod fish, often from the Jersey Shore and throughout the East Coast and competed in many fishing tournaments. He mentored many young men in the ways and joys of outdoor life, careers and living. Bill was a member of the PGA Course Rating community for decades and a lifetime member of the Phoenixville Country Club with a 3 handicap and had 2 holes-in-one! He loved cooking and was an avid reader especially books with a historical perspective. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA. Interment was private. Contributions in his memory to the Church Farm School, 1001 E. Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA 19341 would be appreciated.
