William Nassau Obituary

William Latta Nassau, III, age, 89, died Aug 9th after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Paoli, he was born Sep 1, 1924 to William Latta Nassau, Jr and Emily Wilson Nassau. He graduated from Tredyfferin Easttown High School and from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of Delta Psi in 1948. Mr. Nassau served as a tank gunner in the 743rd Tank Battalion during WW II. He saw action in the Battle of the Bulge for which he was awarded the Bronze star. Following graduation from college, he began a long career with the Sun Oil Company, retiring from their Lube Oil Program. He subsequently served as a consultant in the petroleum industry. He was an enthusiastic tennis player who played into his eighties on a court that he assisted in building at the age of eleven. He enjoyed helping to guide the development of the Great Valley. He served as president of the Great Valley Association and as a member of the Tredyfferin Zoning board and Planning Commissions. He was a lifelong member of Devon Troop 50. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Caroline and children William L Nassau, IV (Deborah) of Parkton, MD, and Sarah C Nassau and Henry N Nassau (Cathy) all of Malvern, four grandchildren Kimberly van Dorpe, William H Nassau, Andrew N Nassau and Francis L Nassau and four great grandchildren.
