Geoffrey Garrett Trego Obituary
Geoffrey Garret Trego 63, passed away in his Richmond, VA home on March 25th after a brief illness. He was the son of the late D. Neal Trego and Elizabeth Brown Trego formerly of Merion Park, and members of All Saints Episcopal Church in Wynnewood. He is survived by two sons, James Neal and Garrett Douglas, and granddaughter Emma Miriam Trego, who brought immeasurable joy into Geoff's life. Surviving siblings are Ann (married to Kurt Wilkinson) of Oakton VA, and brothers Bill (Tricia) of Far Hills NJ, and Rob (Lesley) of Frederick MD, along with nephews Andrew Trego, Matthew (Justine) Trego, and great nephew, Noah Matthew Trego. Geoff graduated in 1967 from Lower Merion High School where he excelled in athletics and served in student government. Earning seven varsity letters (3 football, 3 basketball, 1 lacrosse), he was affectionately nicknamed "Garoo". A 1971 graduate of Princeton University (Tower Club member), Geoff pursued post-graduate studies in public policy at several universities, including The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve based in Philadelphia. Geoff had a successful career in Transportation & Infrastructure Public Policy in Washington DC, and also represented the state transportation interests of North Carolina and Virginia. An avid music buff, Geoff had an extensive collection of recordings by the Big Bands, numerous Jazz musicians, as well as Classic Rock and various eclectic artists. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.
