Roberta J. Downs

Roberta J. "Robbie" (nee Riceman) Downs of Wayne died peacefully on Jan. 6, 2011 in Paoli Hospital with her family at her bedside. Beloved wife of Robert J., loving and devoted mother of Robert Jr. (Evelyn), Jeanine (Joseph) Bilotta and Kevin. Loving grandmother (known as "Gram") of Alicia, Stacey, Erica and Jack. Sister of Elizabeth Blume, Earl "Bud", James and John. Also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Robbie was born in Germantown the second daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Earl F. Riceman. She graduated from Raven Hill Academy in Germantown and attended Rosemont College. She was married to Bob on Dec. 31, 1960. After the children were of School age, she worked in the Real Estate business with her husband's firm, The Rese Reality Corp. and retired several years ago. She was very active in St. Monica's Church serving as Chairwoman of the ladies bowling team, fund raising, fashion show and President of the Woman's Club. Robbie enjoyed summers in Ocean City with the family. She will be missed! Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Jan 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., from St. Monica's Church in Berwyn. Visitation Monday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., 1724 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli and also Tuesday morning from 9:15-10:15 a.m., in the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica's Church, 635 First Ave., Berwyn, PA. 19312.
