I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Elting's passing. She was my freshman English teacher at Bryn Mawr, and I enjoyed her class so much that I became an English major. I was just reminiscing about her class with a classmate of mine and decided to try to find Dr. Elting (as I knew her), to write to her.
My condolences to her family. She was a wonderful person.

I am very sorry for your loss. I first met Helene through the Greater Philadelphia Women's Studies Consortium. She as such an energetic fighter for women's rights. I caught up with her last year at a lunch hosted by Bev Cutler, and I was impressed and moved by her spirit and determination.

I met Helene in yoga class at Main Line Health and Fitness just a few years ago. We developed a new friendship, reinforced by "coffee dates" outside of the gym. We shared our own stories, and those of our husbands and adult children. Later, we talked about how life felt when serious illness struck. Helene was always philosophical, blunt, loving. She will be missed. Linda Mintzer

I tried to come to the funeral today, and could not find it, alas! But I am thinking of Helene, and missing her. She was my colleague at Bryn Mawr for several years: an effective and beloved teacher, a warm and distinctive presence in English House. I never met her family, but I know how much you meant to her. Her energy, warmth, wit and bravery will certainly be missed.
Sincerely
Jane Hedley

Bob-I am Mark's mom. I met you at Sarah;s wedding. And Mark has kept me apprised of Helene's situation for some time. I can tell from having met you and listening to what Mark has said about both of you, that Helene was really a special person. I wish I had had the privilege of knowing her. Words are of little comfort, but I hope the happy memories you have shared will long console you. My deepest sympathy to you and all your family. Mimsi Brenenr
