Dear family members of Dr. Boden:

I just would like to say that in this up and coming anniversary of your dearly beloveds passing, that in all that I do where my diabetes is concerned, I will always be thankful that God gave me a great knowledgeable physician who was able to oversee a disease which I acquired, and with the knowledge and wisdom I received from him, I have been able to maintain a fairly healthy lifestyle, because he´s one of the few physicians I was able to see who truly cared about his patient, me being one of them. I truly miss him as my endocrinologist, and hope that all of those up and coming students he trained in Temple have used him as an example, and are successful in their practice. So with that being said, thank you for lending him to me for the short period of time I was fortunate enough to have him as my doctor. God blessed you with a truly wonderful person, and I will always remember him.

I just learned of Guenther's passing. Having worked and talked with Guenther on many occasions in the past about science (and wine), I grew to greatly admire both his large and important body of work as well as his dedication and honesty. The scientific world and I will miss him.

A shock to my heart. I did a search and found out about Dr. Boden's passing. I was an undergrad, and worked in the GCRC as a Hospital Corpsman with Bobi Ryan, RN and Dr. Boden. He was truly a teacher and a gentle spirit. Even as department chair, he took the time to teach me and to take me under his wing. He was responsible for my getting an undergraduate NIH grant. I did article research for him and worked in his lab, along with Michael Gyda and Dr. Eric Murer. Even 20 years after, I was able to speak personally with Dr. Boden who always invited me back to Temple. So sorry I was not able to see him again. Rest in peace, Dr. Boden.

Dear Boden Family:

I met Dr. Boden about 7 years ago at Temple Hospital right after I was diagnosed with Diabetes, Type II. I live in Northeast Philly, and it is not the simplest drive from here to Broad Street.

However, in my heart and soul, I know that your father, husband, father-in-law, grandfather saved my life by not only being the person that he was, but by the knowledge which he had. Now, don't get me wrong, he was not so easy on me! He prescribed the right medication, and boy did I get lectured! But that advice and medication kept my (A1-C) at a 6.2 or a 6.5.

I not only have Diabetes, but I also have another non-physical disability which is derived from a head injury many years ago. With that being said, sometimes I would be overly sensitive to things that might have been said to me. One instance I can remember, my feelings got hurt, perhaps because I misunderstood an interpretation between Dr. Boden and myself. So, I decided to be hurt and leave. Dr. Boden came after me to see what happened, because that is who he was. Not only was he a great teacher, but he was a great listener, had a sensitive nature, and a good sense of humour.

Not only was he the best doctor I ever had, it was a great pleasure in knowing him.

Thank you for lending him to me for the short period of time that I got to know him. Know this....although he could sometimes be a tough soul, and we all get to know individuals from different perspectives depending on our relationship with them, I know he loved his family very much.

So, Gd bless you all, and know how very sorry I am for your loss.

Dear Irene and Family,
our sincere condolences for your lost. Gunther is at peace now.
Here are a few words of comfort:
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low..
Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me - but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's Plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - But Let Me Go!
With my deepest sympathy
