Christine Louise (Lawrence) Bryant, a resident of Highland Avenue in Manchester, passed away Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Christine was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 19, 1929, the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Condermann) Todtschinder. She received her early education in Hollis, New York schools, graduating from Jamaica High School in Queens, New York and from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont in 1948.
Christine worked as a secretary for over 30 years, beginning at the Manchester Journal and at the Equinox Hotel, and retiring from the Enchanted Dollhouse in 1983. She was a member of Adoniram Chapter 22, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary Post 38, Northshire Chapter of A.A.R.P. and a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Manchester, including the Mary Martha Fellowship. She enjoyed attending the Congregational Church in Peru Village in the summers. Christine loved baking, gardening, bird watching, walking, snow-shoeing, swimming in her pool and attending local music events year round. She was an avid traveller, both in the US and abroad; her favorite places included Cape Cod, Maine and Bermuda.
She married Albert Lawrence (of the Village Post Office) in 1971, with whom she learned to play golf at the Manchester Country Club; together they travelled through Germany, meeting and visiting her family cousins in Frankfurt and in Limburg an der Lahn; Christine delighted in being able to converse with her relatives in German, having grown up in a German-speaking Lutheran family. She married Clyde Bryant, Jr. in 1988; they divided their time between their homes in Pawlet and Manchester and enjoyed travelling. In later years she cherished her frequent visits to Germany each spring and fall to spend time with her daughter and son-in-law Peter, most especially for the Oktoberfest in Munich. Together they travelled through Austria, Switzerland, Southern Tyrol, Italy and Norway.
Christine is survived by her daughter Sandra Waller-Hirschmann and her husband Peter Hirschmann of Munich, Germany, step-sons Christopher Bryant of Largo, Florida and Timothy Bryant and his wife Nancy of Pawlet, Vermont and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Robbins Lawrence who died in 1985, her husband Clyde Bryant, Jr. who died in 1993 and her brother Paul Todtschinder, Jr.
A service of remembrance will be announced at a later date.
