1922 - 2014 MANCHESTER CENTER Hanna M. Blaise, 98, a recent resident of Equinox Terrace, passed away on July 22, 2014. She was born in Germany on Dec. 26, 1915, to Gustav and Anna (Behrens) Muller. She came to the USA in 1922 with her widowed mother and they settled in Queens, N.Y. She met her husband, Edward Blaise, Jr. while working together at the Ridgewood Savings Bank in Ridgewood, N.Y. They were married in 1936 and raised two children, Linda and Edward III. Her husband died in 1991. For several years, while living in Huntington, N.Y., Mrs. Blaise was a volunteer at the Burrwood Home for the Blind in Lloyd Harbor, N.Y. When her husband retired, they moved to Southbury, Conn., where she worked for a number of years as a volunteer at the Southbury Women's Exchange, which carried her handknitted baby afghans. She continued selling her afghans until recently at the Dedham Women's Exchange in Dedham, Mass. Between 1998 and 2011, she made her home at Higgins Beach, Scarborough, Maine, with her son and daughter-in-law, and loved walking on the beach gathering shells and driftwood. In 2012, she moved to Equinox Terrace where she was close to her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Drunsic and husband, William, of Manchester Center; her son, Edward Blaise and his wife, Faye of Scarborough, six grandchildren, four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Hanna will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her wonderful sense of humor and her generous, caring spirit. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of her life will be held at some point in the future.
