1948 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Patricia A. Bidwell Obituary
Patti Ann Yankowski Bidwell of Berlin, CT, beloved wife of Donnie Bidwell Jr., passed away in the afternoon of February 28th, 2018, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT as a result from complications and her battle with cancer. She was visited and surrounded by close friends and family throughout her ordeal while being attended to by the Middlesex Hospital staff with unprecedented kindness and care. Patti was 69 years young.

Patti was born in Greenfield, MA on December 10th, 1948. She was the first child of Shirley Ann Yankowski and James Adam Yankowski. She is predeceased by her parents. Besides her husband and dog, Donnie Bidwell, Jr. and "Doc", she is survived by her brother and his wife, Jamie and Nancy Yankowski of Turners Falls, MA, five nieces, and her uncle Fredrick Winseck in Jupiter, FL. Patti graduated from Greenfield High School in 1967. She was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad for all four years at Greenfield High and was co-captain for her junior and senior years. Patti went on to attend the University of Massachusetts and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Economics. After moving to Connecticut, she started her career at G. Fox in Hartford as a buyer in their cosmetic department. In the 80's, Patti started out with a new career in computer sales with Digital Equipment in Meriden, CT and moved quickly to a new company called Apple Computers which had an office in Glastonbury, CT. She started as a Sales Rep. there. Her territory was northern New England and she enjoyed many years with this new emerging industry at that time. Later, as Apple and the computer industry transitioned to a more retail environment, she moved on to become a Pharmaceutical Rep. for Noven Pharmaceuticals. She remained there for the balance of her working career. Patti was an extremely accomplished Sales and Marketing person.

Patti was generous, honest (sometimes brutally), and dedicated and loyal to her loved ones and friends. She volunteered teaching CCD for many years in Rocky Hill, CT. She and Donnie were Eucharistic Ministers for many years at St. Joseph's parish in Meriden, CT. She enjoyed her pets a Cocker Spaniel "Riley", Donnie's Labrador "Tisbury" and Patti and Donnie's Labrador "Doc". She never neglected long walks with them even in the brutal winter months. She was only guilty of being an unlimited cookie source for them. They followed her everywhere. The one vice that Patti had was her love of shopping. Patti always loved to "shop".

Patti and Donnie enjoyed seventeen years as a couple, never being apart. They enjoyed going on motorcycle rides all over scenic New England and down the East Coast to Florida. Patti was an avid hiker and loved bicycling during the warmer months with Donnie. Hard to believe, but Patti was also a die-hard New York Yankee fan. Coming from Greenfield, MA this was a shock to many. She enjoyed sharing her love of sport and going to NYY games. She even got her mum, Shirley, Red Sox vs Yankees tickets at Fenway Park. She took her mum, an avid Red Sox fan, so she could finally attend a game in person. That was important to Patti, even if it was painful sitting in Fenway Park. Patti treasured making memories, working to live and not living to work. She is and was loved and will always be remembered. Godspeed.

Family and friends may gather at Mass for Patti on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capital Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106.
