1955-2013 MANCHESTER CENTER Richard John Sweeney, 57, of Manchester, VT, passed away on June 7, 2013 after a courageous and high spirited battle with cancer.
Richard was born on December 5, 1955. Richard started working as a logger at the age of 15. In 1997, he bought his first saw mill and worked as a sawyer until 2012.
He enjoyed many outdoors activities. Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many hours bird watching and gardening. When he was not outside, he was in his kitchen cooking up treats for everyone to try. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife Ann (Lethbridge) Sweeney. Together, they just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on June 1st; his son Richard N. Sweeney and his wife Jessica of Manchester, his grandson Justin Sweeney and granddaughters Aniesha Buffum and Janna Spivey; his brothers Raymond Sweeney of Rupert and Floyd Sweeney of Manchester; sisters Stormy Sweeney of Arlington and Alice Sweeney-Crawford of Montgomery, PA.
Richard is predeceased by his father Richard Nelson Sweeney and his mother Jennie B. (Bourn) Sweeney.
