Yvonne Van Hekken Visser
Yvonne Van Hekken Visser, a long time summer resident of Dorset passed away in her sleep on October 21, 2013 as a result of a heart attack, at her winter home in Waalre, Holland.She was born March 6, 1924 in Indonesia, but grew up in Holland where she lived until she married Bruno Visser in 1947. Through Bruno's work they were transferred to Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Spain and Japan. Fluent in multiple languages, Yvonne could communicate with people most anywhere she lived. In 1980 Bruno and Yvonne retired to Dorset and Holland. She especially loved Dorset and enjoyed working in her beautiful garden there when not playing golf at the Dorset Field Club. She will be remembered as someone who loved to laugh, make people laugh, and who was always fun to be with. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Ivana Basseda of Miami, Florida; her son, Dirk Visser of Brussels, Belgium; and three grand sons, Alec Basseda, Thomas Visser, and Nicolas Visser; and her very close friend, Nancy Norris of Manchester Center, formerly her next door neighbor of Dorset.
