Ruth C. Hathaway
1942 - 2013 PAWLET Ruth C. Hathaway, passed away on April 27, 2013, at her home in Pawlet.
Ruth was born on Sept. 17, 1942, in Granville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Warren and Helen (Hubbard) Cleveland. She was a graduate of Granville High School.
Ruth married James F. Hathaway Sr., on Nov. 19, 1961.
Ruth was a homemaker and helped run the family farm, especially caring for her calves.
She had worked at J. K. Adams and was featured in one of their advertisements. She enjoyed gardening and mowing her lawn, visits to her Amish friends in Pennsylvania and Ohio, family time and breakfast at Tot's Diner.
Ruth and Jim enjoyed traveling to many cities/states such as, Reno, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Tennessee, New Mexico, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania for conventions through the affiliation and participation with AgriMark, Agway and the Farm Bureau.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents.
Survivors are her husband, Jim of 51 years; her son, James Jr. of Pawlet; her daughters, Winona (Scott) Eastman of Salem, N.Y., and Kyle Dawn Hathaway of Troy, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Zachary, Jillian and Connor Eastman; her siblings, Dawn (Leon) Clark, Walter (Tulita) Cleveland, Arthur Cleveland and his companion (Henrietta Hayes), and Edgar (Sally) Cleveland, all of Pawlet, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service was held Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Pawlet Community Church. Burial will be at a later date.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to Community Church in Ruth's memory.
Scott Eastman, Leon Clark Jr., Scott Cleveland, Scott Hathaway, Warren Cleveland and Richard Cleveland honored Ruth as bearers. Honorary bearers were Leon Clark Sr., Walter Cleveland, Arthur Cleveland, Edgar Cleveland, Dexter "Skeet" Hathaway, Gerald David Forrest.
