Gerald B. Deyo
1927 - 2013 MANCHESTER CENTER Gerald B. Deyo, 86, of Manchester Center, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington with his family at his side.
Gerry was born in Highland Park, Mich., on Jan. 7, 1927.
He served in the Navy during World War II, earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA from the University of Michigan.
After retiring from the corporate management world, Gerry owned and operated Manchester Mobile Home Park for over 40 years.
Gerry was a member of the Eagles in Manchester and the Manchester Bridge Club. He loved golfing, sailing and playing bridge. In his earlier years, Gerry was a pilot and enjoyed flying small airplanes. Gerry was a long-standing member of the Manchester Development Review Board. Gerry loved good conversation and was a formidable debater.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Jean, of Onalaska, Wis., his children, Susan (Eric) Scott of Madison, Wis., James of Dorset, Vt., Edward of Amherst, Wis., Thomas (Julie) of Onalaska, Wis., 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Gerry is further survived by cherished friend and golf partner, Sylvia Jolivette of Manchester Center.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Clarey.
FUNERAL NOTICE: An open house for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Wayne and Tara Bell, 455 Highland Avenue, Manchester Center.
