Douglas C. Freer
ONTARIO: Douglas C. Freer, age 61, of Ontario passed away Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born February 23, 1952 in Poughkeepsie, NY to William and Fanny (Conklin) Freer, moving to Ohio in 1976.
Doug was a member of the Ontario United Methodist Church. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan University . He was employed as the Vice President of Finance and Operations with the Richland County Foundation.
Doug was very close to his family and was a loyal husband, father and brother. He possessed a laid back, content and reserved demeanor and his family and friends could always count on him to be there whenever needed. He enjoyed fishing, boating on Clear Fork Reservoir in his pontoon boat and being very active with his family. Doug will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Diana (Nesbitt) Freer; two sons, Colin and Evan Freer, both of Ontario; one brother, Gregory (Caroline) Freer of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Timothy (Cindy) Nesbitt of Mansfield; one niece, Jennifer Freer of South Carolina; and one nephew, Thomas Nesbitt of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may visit from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richland County Foundation.
