Frances Besch Obituary

Frances Marie (Mutsch) Besch

AVONDALE, AZ: Frances Marie (Mutsch) Besch, 95, went to her eternal rest on December 18, 2012 in Avondale, Arizona.

She was a lifelong Ohio resident who moved to Arizona in 2008. Frances was born in Mansfield, Ohio on October 16, 1917 to Joseph and Pauline (Vogel) Mutsch. She graduated from St. Peters High School in 1935. Frances married Nicholas Besch on July 1, 1939 and he preceded her in death November 22, 1963. Frances worked at Lumbermen's Mutual Insurance Company for many years retiring in 1984. She loved to travel and achieved a life long wish with a trip to Europe. Many vacations and holidays were spent visiting her children and grandchildren in Colorado and Arizona. She was an avid reader, loved to play Bingo and would play cards whenever possible. Her Christmas cookies were eagerly anticipated by her family. Frances collected Santa figures, her favorites were the old fashioned ones. These have been passed down to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This loving mom and grandma will be greatly missed.

Her family includes her brother, Robert Mutsch and wife Barbara of Ashland; children Madeleine (Bonnie) and husband Michael Thomas of Avondale, Arizona, Dr. Nicholas Besch Jr. and wife Erna of Arvada, Colorado, and Joseph Besch and wife Susan of Waterford, Michigan. Her grandchildren are Lynn (Doug) Macdonald and Bryan (Amy) Thomas of Arizona, Teresa (Bruce) Niven of Saudi Arabia, Christina (B J) Hubbard and Nicholas (Sandy) Besch of Colorado, Joseph Besch of Oregon, Katie (Brandon) Robins, Kelly Besch, and Michael Besch of Ohio. Her great grandchildren are Bradley Macdonald and Abby Thomas of Arizona, Ian, Nina, and Ronan Hubbard and Sydney Besch of Colorado, Max and Oliver Niven of Saudi Arabia. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Dorothy Besch of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 5 - 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Tom McQuillen officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

To celebrate her love of Christmas, the family requests that friends and family wear Christmas colors and holiday themed apparel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monsignor Dunn Foundation at St. Peters.
