Richard A. Young
Shelby : Richard A. Young, age 65, resident of rural Shelby died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home.
Born November 24, 1947 in Crestline to Richard and Helen (Pry) Young he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. A 1967 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School, he was formerly employed with the Ohio Seamless Tube Company. Richard was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Shelby Moose Lodge and VFW Post #291. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during the Vietnam Era receiving two bronze stars for service in conflicts.
Richard was an avid card player who enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bowling and flea markets. An old car enthusiast, he also was a die hard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Survivors include his wife, Pam (Wolf) Young; two daughters, Lisa (Randy) Myers and Joyce Young all of Shelby; two grandchildren, Cory James Myers and Ava G. Myers; seven half brothers, Bill, Nick, Kenny, Jerry, Mark, and Philip Tesso; two half sisters, Linda Tanner and Darlene Tesso; his step children, Stephanie (Dirk) Bistline, Sandie (Chris) Killion, Stephen (Jessica) Tucker all of Mansfield and Scott (Kristy) Tucker of Hayesville; six step grandchildren Lance, Bryce, McKenzie, Caden, Rebecca and Carter; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Young in 2001 and half brother, David Tesso.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00PM Friday August 23, 2013 from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Michael Gieger will officiate with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made for Masses to be said in Richard's name and to Sacred Heart Catholic School, 5754 Ohio 61, Shelby, OH 44875. Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby is assisting the family with arrangements.
