David A. West, Sr.
MT. GILEAD: David A. West, Sr., 65, of Candlewood Lake, Mt. Gilead, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at home.
Born July 15, 1948 in Mansfield he was the son of Floyd West and JoAnn (McIntyre) West Earhart. He married Loretta L. "Sue" (Myers) West on Dec. 3, 1971 and she survives.
David was a 1966 graduate of South Central High School in Greenwich and served in the Ohio Air National Guard for seven years as a Sergeant with the 179th Fighter Tactical Fighter Group in Mansfield. He worked at Galion Community Hospital as Director of Maintenance, Housekeeping and Security. He enjoyed woodworking, being outside taking care of his yard, building his own home and was an enthusiast of older cars. He was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 562 in Willard.
In addition to wife, Sue, he is survived by his children, David A. West, Jr. and Adam F. (Kelly) West, all of Mansfield and Melissa S. West and fiancé, Jeff Branch of Lexington; grandchildren, Elijah West, Jackson West and Ethan Branch; brothers, Charles "Jack" (Sandy) Earhart, Tim (Melissa) West and Jennifer West; step-mother, Marge West of Ontario, and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents was preceded in death by his step-father who raised him, Thomas "Jack" Earhart and a brother and sister, John West and Frances Dittman.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington, with Pastor Gene Witzky officiating.
