Mary Eileen Patterson
MANSFIELD: Mary Eileen Patterson, 89, of Springfield Township, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Mary was born on September 13, 1923, to Levi and Pearl Zwilling Snyder. She graduated form Springfield Township High School in 1941, and received her RN credentials from the Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. On November 28, 1946, Mary married her Marine, Francis Patterson, who preceded her in death. Mary was lifetime member of the Ontario United Methodist Church, where she leaves a congregation of friends. She was also an active participant in the Ontario VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Forums, and the Church United Women. Mary was an avid bridge player, an endless knitter, and a rabid Ohio State fan. Mary is remembered by hundreds of people for the compassionate care she gave them as a nurse in the labor and delivery room of Mansfield General Hospital during her decades of work there. Additionally, countless others still talk of her inspired Sunday school teaching at her church. Indeed, her life touched thousands of others.
Mary is survived by her brother, Harold (Barbre) Snyder of Westerville; her sister-in-law, Connie Snyder of Kenton, Ohio; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Patterson of Perrysburg, Ohio. She will be sadly missed by her three children, David (Barb) Patterson of Mt. Gilead, Laura Patterson of Missoula, Montana and Jeanie (Dean) Sqrow of Mansfield. The grandchildren who will miss her Christmas cookies and cut-throat game playing are Libby (Mike) Eckhardt, Anna (Aaron) Creswell, Emily (Chris) Donahue, Zach Johnson, Katy (Phil) Keogh, Wes Patterson, Colton Sprague and Austin Sprague. Four great grandchildren survive, as do numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express extreme gratitude to all the wonderful people at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehab of Galion. Their care was remarkable and unparalleled.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Dr. Sondra Snode.

I remeber Mary being a very kind teacher to me when I was a young nurse learning the ropes. She was awesome.

Oh my, I am so sorry for your loss. When I think of Mary, I think of sweetness. I have a darling babydoll Mary made for my daughter Jenna Lakey, that we cherish. I have thought of Mary nearly daily as I drove by the house. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Cathy
